After winning the Colombian Mathematical Olympiad at 17, Dr. Juan Gonzalez went on to earn two Bachelor’s degrees and two Master’s degrees on his way to a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Known for his invention of the “myriad filter,” a widely-used signal processing algorithm, he holds numerous patents and publications. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Dr. Gonzalez has coached high school students for math competitions and led the Colombian team to a third-place finish at the international Supercomputing competition in 2021. As a teacher, he is passionate about cultivating his students’ intellectual and emotional growth, creating opportunities for them to make discoveries, develop their confidence, and recognize what they’ve learned and achieved. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys running, weightlifting, studying nutritional science, and exploring anthropology to better understand human behavior.
